If you are not riding off road and have short commutes it might be worth getting this helmet. I would suggest if you are going to be a little bit more aggressive I would spend the extra money and get something with the mips system. I gave it away to a friend that needed a helmet after i bought something else. If you need a helmet than this will work but there are better options out there now.I got a big-coconut... helmets (not to mention hats) just don't fit me right. I tried at the local bike shop to find a helmet that would go on my head - no go. I challenged the guys at the shop - they were SURE they would have one... nope. As I suspected. Then - on a recent trip we rented bikes and to my amazement there was a helmet that fit! It was the Giro (an earlier model - but very similar). So - I made a note of the make/model and found similar (newer) Giro model on Amazon. The helmet fits - and it is comfortable enough to wear all day. I no longer have to go helmet-less while my boys are required to wear their helmets. If you are tough-to-fit big-coconut type like me this is the helmet for you. Fit and finish are all good - and did I mention that it FITS!? Happy biker here.I bought this helmet for town riding and light paved and unpacked trails. All buckles and straps appear to be well made. The decals and contours make for a sleek look, and the adjustable dial in back allows for a custom fit. I was unsure on exact helmet size and ordered this one, so a customizable adjustment made that perfect for me. Also at the cycle shop I had a medium that was really snug and the dial adjustment helped make it workable to test out bikesthere, but I feel like this size was a better fit for me (L) and all around I’m very pleased with the purchase.I bought this helmet because it fits me great. There are many adjustable helmets out there, but this one doesn't seem to wiggle at all when I move my head around. I'm actually a roadbiker, and I'm pretty sure this is designed for mountainbiking (less streamlined, bigger vents), but I like this design as it ventilates very well for hot weather and for commuting when you rarely go over 15 mph. It also feels pretty light and I don't notice that I'm wearing it once I get riding. Other's have complained that the chin strap doesn't fit well with sunglasses, but I haven't had this problem. The chin strap didn't lie flat on the sides of my face for the first few weeks of use, but after a lot of adjustments it now fits fine. If you get this helmet and the chin strap isn't fitting well, I'd be patient and fiddle with the adjustments for awhile before giving up.For the price, I highly recommend giving this helmet a try. This is really a nice helmet. I bought it primarily for three reasons. First, it is very light and a nice improvement over my old helmet. Second, it has a visor and my old one didn't. I find that helpful when the sun is shining in your face and it also pivots up and down within a short range. Third, the entire helmet can be pivoted up and down parallel with the body. So if you want it lower in the front for better sun protection, this is easily done. This is controlled in the back by sliding up or down where the dial is for loosening or tightening the band to adjust for your head. Taken together, this is a really nice helmet for the money, with multiple adjustments that many helmets do not have.I decided to replace my old Giro MTB (the equivalent of the current Phase model) helmet - I ride cross - since it had a decent sized crack in it and was about 4 years old. I ride daily to work rain, snow, or shine, so my helmet gets a lot of use. I settled on the Hex over the Phase based on reviews that noted good ventilation on the Hex. I'm happy with the amount of ventilation, though it doesn't seem appreciably better than my old helmet.Overall, I'm happy as it is somewhat lighter than my old one, despite being a large instead of medium. (A conscious choice, since in winter I need to wear a beanie to keep warm. I live in CO so winters are not trivial and I ride unless it is dumping snow or below 0 F. The medium was a little uncomfortable with a beanie underneath.)I've used Giro road bike helmets for years and have been very happy with them. My go to offload helmet had been a Specialized Ambush. Had been until a small screw was lost and the visor had to be fixed down which made it impossible to use on trails. Found this helmet and have been very happy. It's cooler than the Ambush and fits as well. It does not have the back of the head protection of the Ambush but it seems more than adequate for the job. Not that my head has a price but the Ambush is significantly more expense. Two thumbs up!Having survived the 1980s it's probably a little late to worry about protecting my noggin. But nonetheless this helmet packs great features at an affordable price. You can go cheaper or all in on the high end helmet. But this helmet seems to be the perfect middle the road situation. FYI: Its still American made! This product and its price is exceptional value for money. Arrived promptly in pristine packaging.
